Back in March 2017, Radar Online spoke exclusively with a source close to Demi Moore who revealed that the actress was plotting a huge Hollywood comeback on the back of her role in hit Fox show, Empire. “Demi is trying really hard to get back into the world of TV and movies right now,” the insider said. “Aside from her new role on Empire next season, she is reading a lot of other scripts and is weighing her options. […] She knows that she needs to get back into the game to survive and has rehired her team of managers and agents to help her with another big break.” The new book appears to do a lot of finger-pointing, blaming Kutcher for encouraging the couple to have threesomes and break her sobriety, while he allegedly cheated. “Because we had brought a third party into our relationship, Ashton said, that blurred the lines and, to some extent, justified what he’d done,” Moore writes.

She struggled with alcoholism throughout their eight-year marriage, and Demi claims the former male model consistently “shamed” her about her drinking. She reveals that, when she was a kid, her teenage mother battled alcoholism and suicide, and Moore remembers, at age 12, digging pills out of her mom’s mouth. She later learned that the man she thought was her dad wasn’t her biological father.

Various tabloid reports claimed the aging actress spent as much as $400,000 on a full body makeover that included collagen injections in her lips, porcelain caps on her teeth and liposuction on her stomach, thighs and bottom. She didn’t see it that way, however, and neither did Ridley Scott, who signed off on an $11 million pay packet so she would star in 1997’s G.I Jane. That would be the last eight figure sum she would receive, as studios became wise to her salary demands.

Schumacher, who passed away in June after a year-long battle with cancer, apparently put his own money up to make sure Demi stayed sober throughout the shoot. She went on to explain that she became passionate about the rights of young women after having three daughters.

The 56-year-old actress, whose mother was also an alcoholic, previously claimed he cheated and begged for threesomes as she continued to churn out shocking revelations in her new book. Schumacher’s actions weren’t just a lifeline to Moore — the ripple effects of Lowe seeing Moore eventually achieve sobriety affected his recovery journey too. Thanks to the aforementioned fur coat fiasco, Demi Moore found herself in the dog house with top animal charity PETA, and while that had a negative impact on her public image, it shouldn’t distract from all the philanthropy she’s been engaged in since.

Demi Moore has struggled to keep it together since her six-year marriage to Ashton Kutcher came crashing down amid allegations that her much younger (15 years, to be exact) husband had been cheating on her with women closer to his own age. The final straw came when 22-year-old part-time model Sara Leal spilled the beans about sleeping with Kutcher on his and Moore’s wedding anniversary (ouch!), prompting the actress to release a statement confirming their split. “As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.” Her mother battled substance addiction before Moore herself battled to stay sober. In her new autobiography, the 56-year old actress writes about her battle with the bottle, and the lack of support she received from ex-husband Ashton Kutcher.

It’s unclear how much money may have eventually changed hands, but court papers obtained by TMZ in January 2018 reveal that all parties came to an agreement and asked for the case to be dismissed. The experience was the catalyst that turned things around for the actress. She checked into a rehab program that addressed not only her substance abuse, but also her trauma and codependency issues. Importantly, she also sought help for the other health problems that were plaguing her, namely autoimmune and digestive problems. Considering the circumstances of her upbringing, it comes as no surprise, then, that Demi moved out of her parents’ home at the age of 16.
