Demi Moore ‘Has Done a Great Job of Recovery’: Source
Back in March 2017, Radar Online spoke exclusively with a source close to Demi Moore who revealed that the actress was plotting a huge Hollywood comeback on the back of her role in hit Fox show, Empire. “Demi is trying really hard to get back into the world of TV and movies right now,” the insider said. “Aside from her new role on Empire next season, she is reading a lot of other scripts and is weighing her options. […] She knows that she needs to get back into the game to survive and has rehired her team of managers and agents to help her with another big break.” The new book appears to do a lot of finger-pointing, blaming Kutcher for encouraging the couple to have threesomes and break her sobriety, while he allegedly cheated. “Because we had brought a third party into our relationship, Ashton said, that blurred the lines and, to some extent, justified what he’d done,” Moore writes.
She struggled with alcoholism throughout their eight-year marriage, and Demi claims the former male model consistently “shamed” her about her drinking. She reveals that, when she was a kid, her teenage mother battled alcoholism and suicide, and Moore remembers, at age 12, digging pills out of her mom’s mouth. She later learned that the man she thought was her dad wasn’t her biological father.
Various tabloid reports claimed the aging actress spent as much as $400,000 on a full body makeover that included collagen injections in her lips, porcelain caps on her teeth and liposuction on her stomach, thighs and bottom. She didn’t see it that way, however, and neither did Ridley Scott, who signed off on an $11 million pay packet so she would star in 1997’s G.I Jane. That would be the last eight figure sum she would receive, as studios became wise to her salary demands.

Schumacher, who passed away in June after a year-long battle with cancer, apparently put his own money up to make sure Demi stayed sober throughout the shoot. Nardine Saad covers breaking entertainment news, trending culture topics, celebrities and their kin for the Fast Break Desk at the Los Angeles Times. She joined The Times in 2010 as a MetPro trainee and has reported from homicide scenes, flooded canyons, red carpet premieres and award shows. Moore said she had broken her two decades of sobriety by drinking again and taking 12 Vicodin pills a day.
The source also confirmed that Moore had succumbed to her old ways, saying “it’s a misconception that she was ever 100 percent sober. She’s been drinking for years.” The scariest moment of Moore’s downward relapse spiral happened seven years ago, when she was rushed to the hospital after suffering a seizure at a birthday party she attended with Rumer. Moore had smoked synthetic marijuana and inhaled nitrous oxide, also known as “whip-its”. Moore would later say that she felt as if she was “going into the light”, reminiscent of scenes from Ghost. She went on to explain that she became passionate about the rights of young women after having three daughters.

The 56-year-old actress, whose mother was also an alcoholic, previously claimed he cheated and begged for threesomes as she continued to churn out shocking revelations in her new book. Schumacher’s actions weren’t just a lifeline to Moore — the ripple effects of Lowe seeing Moore eventually achieve sobriety affected his recovery journey too. A source told PEOPLE in October the reason why Kutcher has kept silent in light of Moore’s memoir, Inside Out.
- In her new memoir, Inside Out, Demi Moore, 57, opens up about her addiction struggles and how it affected her daughters with ex-husband Bruce Willis — Rumer, 31, Scout, 28 and Tallulah, 25.
- But for Moore, this marriage was quite a bit different from her previous ones.
- The bespectacled teen had a memorable evening, living out the fantasy of millions of 15-year-old boys growing up in the 1980s — Moore, who was aged 19 at the time, made out with him no less than three times.
- In her book Moore tells readers she was raped when she was 15 and her mom set up the abuse.
- Importantly, she also sought help for the other health problems that were plaguing her, namely autoimmune and digestive problems.
One Disney senior executive seemed to realize her bubble had burst even before G.I. “People just don’t want to see her. We would have to drag them kicking and screaming to see this movie.” However, Moore was a recovering alcoholic and said she couldn’t stop drinking once she started.
Demi Moore’s sudden hospitalization Monday night has opened the door to a litany of crazy-sounding claims. If we are to believe the most outrageous, Moore is a 49-year-old anorexic with a serious Red Bull and Adderall habit who huffed away at nitrogen oxide (or whip-its, to use the street term) the night that she collapsed into an epileptic seizure at her home. This was all, obviously, in an effort to maintain control after a marital fall-out with 33-year-old ex-hubby Ashton Kutcher, who savagely cheated on her with a 22-year-old girl on the night of their sixth wedding anniversary last fall. “There is a man who would be considered my biological father who I don’t really have a relationship with,” she would say in a later interview. Thanks to the aforementioned fur coat fiasco, Demi Moore found herself in the dog house with top animal charity PETA, and while that had a negative impact on her public image, it shouldn’t distract from all the philanthropy she’s been engaged in since.
Going head-to-head with her tabloid headlines
After allegedly spending a small fortune on changing her appearance only to be told she still was no longer suitable for the strong, sexy roles she used to get, Demi Moore spoke out against ageism in Hollywood, blaming it for her relegation from the A-list. The Scarlet Letter (1995) barely managed to claw back a fifth of its budget, Razzie favorite Striptease became Hollywood slang for box office bomb after a horrible performance in 1996, and G.I. Jane (for which Moore shaved her head) was a resounding disappointment domestically. Last night, Kutcher broke his silence as he appeared to hit back at Demi when he told fans to text him to find out the “truth”. Another time, Kutcher shared a photo of Moore’s bum as she leaned over, after the couple had attended the wedding of her ex Bruce Willis to model Emma Heming. Demi Moore says Ashton Kutcher humiliated her with drunk pics while she battled alcoholism during their decade-long relationship.

Demi Moore’s new book, released Tuesday, includes several bombshell revelations, and has prompted a media tour that’s become a heart-wrenching walk down memory lane. As Americans head to the polls in 2024, the very future of our country is at stake.
Demi Moore: The Real Reason We Don’t Hear From Her Anymore
Demi Moore has struggled to keep it together since her six-year marriage to Ashton Kutcher came crashing down amid allegations that her much younger (15 years, to be exact) husband had been cheating on her with women closer to his own age. The final straw came when 22-year-old part-time model Sara Leal spilled the beans about sleeping with Kutcher on his and Moore’s wedding anniversary (ouch!), prompting the actress to release a statement confirming their split. “As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.” Her mother battled substance addiction before Moore herself battled to stay sober. In her new autobiography, the 56-year old actress writes about her battle with the bottle, and the lack of support she received from ex-husband Ashton Kutcher.
I think it’s about moderation.” So to appease his misconception about her disease, she relapsed and started drinking again, ending twenty years of sobriety. Because, as she says, “When you don’t have an off switch, you go until you can’t go anymore.” Much worse, Moore claims that Kutcher would mock and shame her by taking pictures of her when she was drunk. When I went too far, though, he let me know how he felt by showing a picture he’d taken of me resting my head on the toilet the night before,” she writes in Inside Out. But it was really just shaming.” Third, about two years into the marriage, Moore got pregnant, but it unfortunately wasn’t meant to be.
It’s unclear how much money may have eventually changed hands, but court papers obtained by TMZ in January 2018 reveal that all parties came to an agreement and asked for the case to be dismissed. Demi Moore’s fading reputation took another bashing in 2009 when she was named and shamed by animal activist group PETA for the excessive amount of animal fur in her wardrobe. After a poll on their website named the actress the year’s Worst Dressed celeb in Tinsel Town, PETA told Access Hollywood, “She may be a cougar, but that’s not helping fur-loving Demi Moore in the eyes of animal lovers.” She seems to have been on a downward spiral for years, which makes it kind of obvious as to why she’s become so reclusive, but let’s see if we can decipher the real reason we don’t hear from her anymore. As she spiraled further, Tallulah and Scout stopped speaking to Moore for three years, while Rumer kept in touch sporadically. Rumer was there in 2012 when Moore suffered a seizure at a party after smoking synthetic cannabis and inhaling nitrous oxide.
The actress, 56, appeared on the Facebook Watch show Red Table Talk on Monday to speak about her struggles with addiction and her marriage to the actor, 41. The experience was the catalyst that turned things around for the actress. She checked into a rehab program that addressed not only her substance abuse, but also her trauma and codependency issues. Importantly, she also sought help for the other health problems that were plaguing her, namely autoimmune and digestive problems. Considering the circumstances of her upbringing, it comes as no surprise, then, that Demi moved out of her parents’ home at the age of 16.
