EMS Certification Levels Emergency Health Services Federation
This course will teach learners basic first aid for injury, environmental, and medical emergencies, appropriate application and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), response to adult and pediatric choking, and adult and pediatric CPR. The EMS Voluntary Event Notification Tool (E.V.E.N.T.) system collects anonymous reports of EMS system safety events for the purpose of preventing future events across the system. The reports that are submitted will be used as part of the regional and statewide quality improvement plans to make changes to the system that will reduce or prevent future similar events. HeartCode BLS is the AHA’s blended learning delivery method for the BLS Course. HeartCode blended learning delivers quality resuscitation education regardless of where providers are located and gives them more control to complete the course at their own pace.
American Heart Association (AHA) Training
- EMS West provides at no charge, classroom and hands on instruction program for PHRN and EMT student candidates that are preparing to participate in both the psychomotor and computer adaptive exams.

I was not sure what I wanted to do career-wise, but the criminal justice field had always piqued my interest. NPRC has transfer agreements with institutions for students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution. We encourage students to speak with the college or university they wish to transfer credits to prior to attending classes with NPRC to confirm courses will transfer. (3) The Department will publish in the Pennsylvania Bulletin, at least biennially, a list of the skills the Department has approved as being within the scope of practice of an EMR. EMS Certification Process
Providers first complete the online portion of HeartCode BLS and then complete a hands-on skills session at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus. Access to the BLS Provider Manual eBook ( ) is included with HeartCode BLS. This product has been updated with new science from the 2020 Guidelines for CPR and ECC and replaces the previous version ( ). The two day (sixteen hour) course covers advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) according to the standards promulgated by the American Heart Association. Information is presented in lectures, demonstrations, and small-group workshops that allows you to update your clinical expertise and learn new skills.

Candidates that have participated in our prepare courses have been 85% more successful on first time exam pass when compared to other students. For example, EMT courses require attendees to be at least 16 years old, CDA admissions requires employment at a licensed childcare center, and CDL admissions requires department of transportation physicals and drug screens. Growing up in rural Potter County, Pennsylvania meant if I wanted good educational and employment opportunities, I would have to move. When NPRC started offering classes less than 30 minutes from my home (almost an hour closer than the next closest college), my future was no longer dependent on living in a more urban area. I received a quality education without spending the tens of thousands of dollars on room and board a traditional school would have required.
From the start of the course through the first 12 hours of the course, a student may withdraw and receive a 50% refund. My time at Northern Pennsylvania Regional College has been a great experience even through the COVID-19 pandemic. Never did I imagine doing a year of college in my own home and still be able to be on the Dean’s List and be extremely proud. However, everyone at NPRC has made it easy for me to understand what it means to be studious.
(i) Completes an application for EMR certification on a form or through an electronic process, as prescribed by the Department. The program will be a minimum of 160 hours with combined lecture and practical skill sessions. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be eligible for certification from the NREMT and the PA Dept. of health as an EMT. EMR and EMT students can receive 100% refund if they withdraw prior to the first scheduled class.
Situational Awareness for First Responders was developed to empower emergency responders with resources to understand and prepare for the physical, emotional, and cognitive responses to a critical incident. This sixteen hour course covers Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) according to the standards of the American Heart Association.
