I didn’t really start using [NPF pills] until last year [2020] and just because it was cheaper. I know a lotta people that never would’ve touched it [NPF pills], touched it last year. That’s just because we were locked in and couldn’t go anywhere.
Prescription-drug regulations did nothing to slow a South Shore perc 30 drug ring.
These findings are consistent with prior studies [25] and suggest a need to “re-calibrate” existing buprenorphine-based and other opioid use disorder treatment protocols to address the unique needs of patients using NPF-type drugs [43,44,45]. As you increase your dose of Perc 30s, you are in danger of causing a serious addiction to develop or even causing an overdose. Even so, you must not suddenly stop taking this substance because you will begin to experience withdrawal symptoms, and these symptoms will make it impossible for you to refrain from taking opioids for very long. If you are ready to stop ingesting opioids, the best way to do this is to obtain treatment at a treatment facility.

Because physicians are aware of the highly addictive nature of opioids, they are increasingly unlikely to provide their patients with refills. For this reason, these patients began to turn to Perc 30s and other opioid substitutes. Then again, I didn’t do a lot of it… It was once or twice in a probably a 4-5-day span and then that was it… I’m not continuing to use it at all, because I really didn’t get a lot out of it. A lot of dealers will let you know, “Hey, this has been laced with fentanyl because it gives you a better high…” I stay away from that. I have one particular dealer that I use that I have had for quite some time now. He’s pretty honest with me with what he knows is going into it, and I stay away from it for the most part. Perc 30s are not Percocet – the brand name for oxycodone mixed with acetaminophen, the main ingredient in Tylenol – but a generic variety of quick-release oxycodone made by a variety of manufacturers. They are sometimes referred to as “roxys” after Roxane Laboratories, the first company to make the drug, or “blueberries,” because of their color.
I went back for Christmas with my girlfriend at the time. We actually ran out of “black”—out of heroin—and we were trying to get more. The people… that I’d known from growing up, didn’t have heroin. They were actually the only thing I was able to get at that time. I knew about them, but in my opinion, I didn’t really care because I did heroin. I didn’t care to try anything else or try something different.

What is Percocet?
One Perc 30 tablet contains 30 milligrams of oxycodone without acetaminophen. Drug manufacturers created these pills in the South Shore and provided customers with counterfeit prescriptions. Ask a doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine that may contain acetaminophen (sometimes abbreviated as APAP). Taking certain medications together can lead to a fatal overdose. Just one dose can cause death in someone using this medicine accidentally or improperly.
At that time, authorities didn’t expect the arrests to make a dent in the drug trade of counterfeit pills. In actuality, the situation became much worse after that. Many people were introduced to oxycodone after they received prescriptions from their doctors. The law enforcement and public health officials have to face a great deal of problem regarding this issue. From a community and clinical practice standpoint, there is an urgent need to address the structural and attitudinal barriers for patient access to life-saving medications for opioid use disorder [42]. Our interviews suggest that participants may have even more pessimistic attitudes toward their prospects of quitting NPF.

It works like other highly addictive drugs such as heroin and morphine. It binds to the brain’s neurotransmitters and affects the central nervous system, changing the way our brains perceive pain. The drug alters how your body feels and responds to pain, which is why it’s used to relieve pain conditions or post-surgical chronic pain. Like other opioid medications, people usually start getting high on Percocet by exceeding the recommended dose.
